Flying from your local airport can really help ease last minute panic on the morning of your holiday. This is why we offer direct flights from eighteen regional airports around the UK with connecting flights from an additional five.

Upgrades

Travel in style by upgrading to Club Class on our British Airways flights to many European and Canadian destinations. You will enjoy a greater luggage allowance, more leg room and dedicated check-in desks so you can avoid the queues when you reach the airport.

Pre-bookable Seats

To ensure your party sits together, you can pre-book seats on the following airlines: Austrian, Thomas Cook (Europe only), Lauda, Monarch (Salzburg only), Thomson Airways (Salzburg and Verona only) and Tyrolean.

Simply reserve your seats at the time of booking up to 12 days before departure for a small charge of £6 per person return. Please note that seats may be separated by an aisle due to aircraft configurations. Exact seat numbers are given at check in. Should we cancel or change your airline to one that is not part of this scheme, we will issue a full refund.

Airport Parking

Transfers to your resort

• Transfer to your accommodation from the airport is normally by coach (except in Switzerland and Constance) but may also be made or include transport by minibus, taxi, train, bus or boat. We cannot guarantee a particular mode of transport. Guests travelling to different resorts may be on the same coach, and the transfer itinerary may include dropping off guests at resorts en route.

Transfers and Travel in Switzerland

Transfers to Swiss resorts (and to Constance in Germany)

Transfers in Switzerland via Zurich and Geneva airports are by train, using the excellent Swiss Federal and mountain railways (your journey may involve a change of trains). Some transfers also involve travel by a local bus, boat or cable-car. Zurich and Geneva have railway stations within the airport. Where necessary, onward transfers within resorts to/from your accommodation are by taxi/minibus/bus where necessary.
Swiss trains, railway stations etc operate a ‘no-smoking’ policy.

First class

First-class rail tickets are available for Swiss transfers (and Constance) at a supplement:
• £31 (single-centre holidays).
• £41 (two-centre holidays).
NB. Must be booked at time of confirmation.

Swiss Tours
In celebration of our 75th Anniversary, we are offering a FREE upgrade to 1st class for all rail transfers within Switzerland on our Swiss tours for 2010.

Fly-luggage - Switzerland

New for Summer 2010
Swiss Rail operates a luggage transportation system that enables you to send your luggage all the way from your UK airport to your hotel in Switzerland (or Constance). Your luggage will normally arrive at your hotel the morning after you have arrived in Switzerland, thus enabling you to transfer from Geneva or Zurich Airport by rail to your resort carrying only your overnight bag with any essentials. In some cases, your luggage may even be delivered on your day of arrival. This service is now available to all guests flying via Geneva or Zurich airports.

At the end of your holiday, you will be able to send your luggage, (usually the day before your flight home) all the way back to Geneva or Zurich Airport. From there, simply collect it from the airport railway station and check it in with the airline as normal. Some airlines may even allow you to check in your luggage at your resort railway station all the way back to your UK airport. This service is available at a cost of £11 per way per item of luggage (£22 return) and can be booked as a one way or return service. Please purchase at time of booking. We cannot accept extra requests within 10 days of departure.
Please note that this service is not included in the basic holiday package and is not available for the resort of Villars.

Two-Centre and Multi-Centre Holidays

Luggage registration within Switzerland between centres is not included but can usually be arranged locally for a small charge, if required. Swiss Classic Tour - Transportation of one piece of luggage per person is included from Lucerne to Davos, Davos to Zermatt and Zermatt to Grindelwald only.

Swiss Half-Price Card

Worth over £60, this card is included in the holiday price for all Inghams guests travelling to Switzerland by air or by rail (unless car hire is booked).

This entitles you to a 50% reduction on first or second-class travel on most of the Swiss Transport network, including all mainline railways, regular public and postbus routes (not PTT excursions), most lake ferries and steamers and many cable cars and mountain railways.

The half-price card is not included for clients booking accommodation only, self-drive or car hire, but can be pre-purchased at a supplement of £63 per person. (NB. This ticket does not include transfers to your resort as it does if you book an air or rail package with us).The half-price card is also not included (or pre-bookable) for clients flying to Milan for Lugano.

Swiss Family Card

Children aged 6-15 years inclusive, travelling with at least one PARENT holding a valid travel ticket, are entitled to FREE travel on the main line Swiss Railway network and most mountain railways, lake ferries and steamers, and public and postbuses.

Ages MUST be advised at the time of booking so that we can send the Swiss Family Card with your travel documents. Children under 6 travel free without the Swiss Family Card.

Please not that the family card is ONLY valid if the child is travelling with at least one parent or legal guardian. Family Card not provided for accommodation only, self drive or bookings with car hire.

Regional Connecting Flights

Booking scheduled flights from regional airports may not be possible until 10 months prior to departure, when airlines release their availability.

If you encounter any difficulty when searching for availability, we recommend that you book Heathrow or Gatwick and then contact our Flight Operations department on 0208 780 8858 or send an email to operations@inghams.co.uk quoting your confirmed booking reference and the regional airport you wish to depart from.

Travel by rail

Sit back and enjoy a relaxing rail journey across Europe to your Alpine destination on one of our daytime or overnight services. This is independent travel with no Inghams representative on the trains. The timetables shown below are based on summer 2008 and are for guidance only. Full timings will be confirmed with your tickets. Please note that a supplement applies on some routes, shown under the timetables.

France

Resorts: Tallories and Chamonix.

Travel on Eurostar to Paris where you change station to Gare de Lyon (two stops on the Express underground – not included). Here you board the TGV to either Annecy or Bellegarde. In Annecy a taxi will be ready to take you to Talloires. In Bellegarde you change onto a regional service to St Gervais where a taxi will take you to Chamonix.

Upgrade: This includes first class travel from London to Annecy or Bellegarde. Meals and drinks are included on Eurostar only.

Austria

Resorts: Ellmau, Fuschl, Kitzbühel, Mayrhofen, Niederau, Oberau, Saalbach/Hinterglemm, Salzburg, Söll, St. Gilgen, St. Johann, St. Wolfgang, Westendorf and Zell am See.

Travel on Eurostar to Paris where you change station to Gare de L’Est (10 mins walk or one stop on the underground – not included). Board the overnight service to Munich, sleeping in a six-berth shared couchette, then change trains to Salzburg or Wörgl, depending on your resort. We will be waiting to take you to your hotel (via the airport if travelling to Salzburg).

Upgrade: This includes first class travel from London to Paris, where meals and drinks are included, and Paris to Munich in a four-berth shared couchette.

Switzerland

Travel by rail to any Swiss resort (except Locarno, Saas Fee, Villars & Zermatt). Go by Eurostar from London or Ebbsfleet to Paris, then change station in Paris to board a TGV service to Geneva or Basel and onward to your destination. Seats will be reserved on both Eurostar and TGV. In Paris, connections are via Paris Est and Basel or Paris Lyon and Geneva (full details to be confirmed). At your final Swiss station, you will be transferred to your accommodation by minibus/taxi. Departures are on Wednesdays (£35 supplement per person) and Saturdays (£50 supplement per person).

Italy

Lake Maggiore

Resorts: Baveno and Stresa

Travel on Eurostar to Paris where you change station to Gare de Lyon (two stops on the Express underground - not included). Here you board the TGV to Geneva from where you change trains to Stresa. Clients staying in Baveno will then be met by a taxi to tske them to their hotel.

Upgrade: This includes first class travel from London to your final rail station. Meals and drinks are included on Eurostar only.

Lake Garda

Resorts: Bardolino, Desenzano, Garda, Peschiera and Sirmione

Travel on Eurostar to Paris where you change station to Gare de Bercy (three stops on the underground with a change - not included). Here you board the overnight service to Brescia, sleeping in a six-berth shared couchette. This train has a restaurant car. At Brescia you change trains for Desenzano or, if staying in any other resort, for Peschiera where a taxi will take you to your hotel.

Upgrade: This includes meals and drinks on Eurostar, and a 2 or 4 berth sleepr to Brescia. Travel from Brescia to Desenzano or Peschiera is in standard class.

Self Drive

Driving to your holiday destination from the UK can be a convenient way to travel at your own pace.  We offer our holidays with return ferry or Eurotunnel Channel crossings instead of flights for a reduced price - see the panel below for our self-drive reductions and countries where these apply. All we ask is you arrive and depart your accommodation the same date as you flight arrivals.  

To book, select your accommodation and either a P&O Ferries or Eurotunnel Channel crossing, then call our reservations team for a quote.  Please note that a supplement applies to some routes.

Eurotunnel

Eurotunnel runs up to three services an hour during peak periods between Folkestone and Calais, on its 35 minutes, platform-to-platform service. Under vehicle clearance of 10cm is compulsory on all vehicles. LPG/Dual powered vehicles are not allowed on Eurotunnel.

Peak season dates
From UK: Fri/Sat 28-29 May and all Fri/Sat between 23/24 July - 27/28 Aug.
From France: Sat/Sun 05-06 Jun and all Sat/Sun between 07/08 Aug and 04/05 Sep.

How to book

Any resort in a country featured in the Car Holiday Reductions box below can be booked as a car holiday. You must arrive and depart your resort on the same day as our flight days for that resort. We will require details of your intended dates and times of travel together with details of your car. Please advise us at the time of booking of the height and length of your vehicle so that the right space can be booked. Some routes carry a per person supplement as shown in the supplements table. Check both outbound and inbound day and time of travel to calculate your supplement.

P & O Ferries

Dover-Calais

Enjoy a 75 mins crossing onboard one of 5 superferries. For a small supplement (£13 per car, plus £11 per person) enjoy the luxury of the Club plus Lounge and priority loading on every sailing (free tea/coffee, newspaper and access to the private lounge) – must be booked as a return.

Hull-Zeebrugge or Rotterdam

Daily overnight service. Accommodation onboard is compulsory – seats are no longer available following the introduction of the new luxury ships. Meals are not included, but can be prepurchased at a discounted price. Details on request.

Reservations for night sailings must include cabin accommodation for all passengers on the booking – a supplement is payable for this. Requests for onboard accommodation must be made at the time of booking and are subject to availability. We recommend booking early for popular dates and times. Full details to be confirmed.

European car hire

Hire a car and gain the freedom and flexiblity to make the most of your resort and explore your holiday region. We offer pre-booked car hire together with any single or two-centre holiday booking in Andorra, Austria, Croatia, France, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland, and with flight-only bookings to Austria and Italy. We have negotiated special and complete packages with Alamo National. Simply collect your car at your arrival airport and return it to the same airport at the end of your holiday. We recommend you do not hire a car when staying in a city).

Canadian car hire

Prices opposite include unlimited mileage and Collision Damage Waiver. Additional drivers (approx $6 per day), liability cover (approx $19 per day), airport fees, taxes and fuel are all extra. Upgrade to the Alamo Gold package for an additional weekly charge shown below. This option will give you the best possible cover, up to three additional drivers, all airport fees and taxes. This option will give you the best possible cover and no extra local charges. Alamo Gold also includes a free tank of petrol.
Please note that a $60pp fee will be payable locally for entering Banff National Park.

General terms for car hire

Cars available
We supply cars according to the car category booked and paid for. Please ensure the category you have requested will suit your party’s needs. Models indicated are given as a guide.

Additional facilities
• Child/baby seats
• Luggage racks.
These items will be reserved for you, but must be paid for locally when you collect the car. Prices are shown in the panel above (rates are subject to local tax).

How to book
1) Car hire should be booked when confirming your holiday flight and accommodation.
2) Indicate the number of cars and group required and how many are in your group. Please ensure the type of car chosen will meet your party requirements.
3) Baby/child seats (and children’s ages) and roof rack requirements must be indicated at the time of booking, but supplements are payable locally and may be subject to local tax.

Please note
(i) We cannot accept bookings for car hire within 14 days of the start of your holiday.
(ii) Cars must be booked for the full duration of your holiday.
(iii) Drivers must be over 23 years old (21 years in Switzerland), and hold a full British driving licence. Maximum age in Italy is 75 years old. No maximum age for other countries.
(iv) Optional items must be paid for locally at the commencement of the rental
(v) No refunds can be made for unused transfers.
(vi) Swiss clients do not receive the “half-price card”.
(vii) Rates of optional extras and taxation quoted are correct at the time of publication but are subject to change without notice.
(viii) Our suppliers cannot guarantee to supply a particular make or model of car and reserve the right to change the models or makes in any car group without prior notice. Inghams has no control over the make or model of car supplied and cannot accept responsibility should the supplier supply a make or model of car other than those listed as available in any particular group in the table above. The supplier’s full booking conditions apply and should be read prior to signing rental agreement at the airport; copy available on request.
(ix) Cash rentals are not possible. Applicants must hold at least one major credit card.
(x) Pick-up and drop-off must be from the same airport.
